Level 2: Test User, Ability (Occupational)

Aims and objectives

The Level 2: Test User, Ability (Occupational) is an internationally recognised qualification in the use of psychometric testing, designed by the British Psychological Society (BPS) to help delegates to make decisions about the appropriateness of the tests available on the open market. 

Through this course, delegates will gain the knowledge and practice required to gain the recognised Level 2: Test User, Ability qualification.

On successful completion of the course, delegates will be able to work independently as a test user and choose, purchase and use all reputable Level 2: Test User, Ability tests from all major distributors.

Content

The content is varied and covers many aspects of test use, interpreting test scores and providing feedback, to understanding the technical qualities of tests and legal issues.  Practical examples show how the concepts relate to the workplace.  There is a statistical element to the course and many practical exercises, however, no prior knowledge of statistics is assumed.  The course covers four modules   including choosing and evaluating tests, relating assessment to job requirements, cost effectiveness of tests and interpreting results.  The practical elements include identifying suitable assessment methods, making ability test recommendations, interpreting results and giving feedback.

Prerequisites

Possession of a Level 1: Assistant Test User qualification is essential for those who wish to obtain a Level 2: Test User, Ability qualification. RFL’s Level 2: Test User, Ability course, includes the required module undertaken at Level 1: Assistant Test User, therefore enabling delegates to be eligible to qualify as a Registered Test User upon completion of the course.  

Assessment

In order to be eligible to qualify as a Registered Test User, delegates are required to complete written and practical coursework.  

Qualification achieved

Successful trainees gain the British Psychological Society (BPS) regulated Level 2: Test User, Ability qualification. Delegates will be eligible for membership of the BPS Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU), as a Registered Test User.
